The San Marcos Unified School District Governing Board has submitted a proposal to the San Diego County Board of Education to change the way board members are elected. Under the proposed election system, the district would be divided into five geographic areas (trustee areas), and one board member living in each area would be elected by the voters who live in that area.
The County Board of Education sought input from the community on the proposed change in the election system and on the map that the San Marcos board has approved to establish the boundaries of the five trustee areas.
Members of the public had the opportunity to express their views at a public hearing:
Aug. 30, 6 p.m.
