How Do I Find a Job

 Important Links:

Employment Within San Diego County

San Diego is an extremely decentralized county. All employment decisions (including: but not limited to, hiring, the employment process, and salary schedules) are made locally by individual school districts. To inquire about teaching, please contact the administrator in the school district(s) for which you wish to teach.

Once you are offered either a substitute position or your own class, the district administrator will refer you to a Credential Technician in their Human Resources department. That technician will assist you with your employment paperwork and your credential paperwork at the same time. If you wish to apply for a credential without the benefit of securing a position first, you will apply directly with our office.

Employment Outside San Diego County

If you are interested in teaching outside of San Diego County the process is very much same. Contact the school districts and/or other employers you are interested in teaching for. Again, once you are offered either a substitute position or your own class, the district administrator will refer you to a Credential Technician in their Human Resources department. That technician will assist you with your employment paperwork and your credential paperwork at the same time.

In most cases it is necessary for your employer to have a Memorandum of Understanding in place with our program. Please refer to the lists of employers on the links above to see if your employer has one in place. If they are not yet a partner employer, please ask your Human Resources personnel to contact our office.
