Empowering Teacher Leaders by Transforming Education in the 21st Century

The Physical Education Leadership Academy 3 is designed to support teachers’ implementation of standards-based, Common Core aligned, high activity physical education and develop teacher leaders who have the ability to impact colleagues at their site, in their district and throughout San Diego County. As a result of their participation, attending teachers will:

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of critical shifts in pedagogy to support and promote 21st Century learning
  • Utilize instructional strategies, on a daily basis, that meaningfully engages ALL students with content
  • Increase students’ health and physical literacy
  • Create a leadership network to promote and support quality physical education

Each session, participants will attend an initial two hour “front-loading” of the topic and will implement changes in pedagogy with their classes for two weeks. Teachers will then return for a one-day debrief, processing, sharing, and strategizing further implementation/promotion.
