20th annual leadership in biliteracy symposium; promote and honor the biliteracy leaders in your district or charter school

Now is the time to nominate one or two individuals in your district or charter school to be recognized with an award at the 20th annual Leadership in Biliteracy Symposium. 

This event is your opportunity to shine a light on the outstanding leaders in your schools who have demonstrated excellence in promoting biliteracy. Past honorees have included counselors, parent leaders, teachers, teaching assistants, site and district administrators, school board members, and university professors.

Submit your honoree information by April 6.

The symposium will also recognize a community honoree and include student performances and a keynote address.

Anyone interested, such as school leaders, teachers, and parents, is invited to attend this memorable event.

Bea Gonzales Leadership in Biliteracy Award​

​​​The Bea Gonzales Leadership in Biliteracy Award is given to one person or institution in San Diego County in special recognition of their efforts for and commitment to promoting biliteracy and academic achievement for English Learners. Each participating district can nominate two honorees who meet the criteria of excellence in promoting biliteracy - they can be teachers, parents, administrators, board members, and/or support staff.  These two outstanding individuals are presented with a Certificate of Award at the symposium. Since 2008, we have been able to present Bea Gonzales Biliteracy Scholarships to select students deemed meritorious candidates by their districts, and Mission To Succeed scholarships sponsored by Mission Fed​eral Credit Union. The 2018 application form will be posted here when available.
