The Leadership in Biliteracy Symposium is an annual awards ceremony to acknowledge the individuals who have made significant contributions in promoting biliteracy for our students. This elegant and educational event honors district and community leaders, promotes biliteracy as an educational asset, and celebrates the achievements of the community.
Bea Gonzales Leadership in Biliteracy Award
The Bea Gonzales Leadership in Biliteracy Award is given to one person or institution in San Diego County in special recognition of their efforts for and commitment to promoting biliteracy and academic achievement for English Learners. Each participating district can nominate two honorees who meet the criteria of excellence in promoting biliteracy - they can be teachers, parents, administrators, board members, and/or support staff. These two outstanding individuals are presented with a Certificate of Award at the symposium. Since 2008, we have been able to present Bea Gonzales Biliteracy Scholarships to select students deemed meritorious candidates by their districts, and Mission To Succeed scholarships sponsored by Mission Federal Credit Union. The 2018 application form will be posted here when available.
