After 19 years of serving the Bonsall community, the Bonsall Union School District held the last meeting of its board of trustees June 11.
Bonsall Union will officially become a unified school district on July 1, which will allow it to begin educating students in grades 9 through 12.
In honor of the milestone, The County Board of Supervisors proclaimed June 11, 2014 as Bonsall Union School District Day. Supervisor Bill horn presented the proclamation to the Bonsall Union school board at the final meeting. Also at that meeting, Superintendent Justin Cunningham presented each of the board members with a clock engraved with the number of years they served the district.
The Bonsall Union School District was formed on August 26, 1995. In the November 2012 election, voters passed a proposition creating a new unified school district that will add high school grades over the next few years. The same Board Members will serve the Bonsall Unified School District until the November 2014 election, when all five seats are on the ballot.
