 Tell Your Inspiring Story through the Ben Vereen Student Health Initiative

​As part of the annual Ben Vereen Awards, the Ben Vereen Student Health Initiative Story Contest is giving individuals and theater departments the opportunity to tell their story in an essay or video entitled “The Moment that I Changed my Life for the Better.”

Students are encouraged to tell their inspiring story about how the arts have helped them to overcome a challenge like obesity, diabetes, self-esteem or bullying.

Category 1 – Individual Project:
All currently enrolled San Diego County high school students, grades 9 through 12, are eligible to enter. The top 5 individual projects win $500!*

Category 2 – Theater Department Project:
Collaborative projects which are inspired by health-related accomplishments and sponsored by a local high school performing arts or creative writing teacher, are also eligible. The top theater department entry wins $1,000!*

Essays should not exceed two 8.5" x 11" one-sided, single-spaced pages and videos should not exceed 2 minutes. Selected essays may be used to create a live musical theatre piece for presentation at the 2015 Ben Vereen Awards!

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 p.m. on February 27, 2015. Winners will be announced on March 31, 2015.
