County Superintendent Dr. Randy Ward released this statement today following the release of Governor Jerry Brown's "May Revise" of the state budget:
For years during the recession, schools took the lion's share of budget cuts. School funding dropped precipitously, and with it, our available resources to best serve students. Now, thanks to a strong economy and Governor Brown's focus on making schools whole again, education is getting the bulk of the state budget for the third straight year. This is as it should be. Investing in California's schools is investing in the future of our great state and the nation.
