About 300 preschool and kindergarten educators learned more
about brain development, helping families manage stress, appropriate technology, and state standards recently at the Early Years Conference.
The San Diego County Office of Education’s (SDCOE) Early
Education unit started the conference 13 years go to bring the most current
research to educators from throughout the county.
This year’s event was presented by SDCOE, San Diego County State
Preschool Directors Network, First 5 San Diego Quality Preschool Initiative,
and California Preschool Instructional Network.
“It’s a wonderful day where administrators and teachers can
come together to reflect on their practice and be inspired by new
research," said Laura McLean, a
coordinator with SDCOE’s Early Education unit. "There are opportunities for
collaboration across agencies, which is very powerful."
This year’s conference, For the Love of Learning, engaged
participants in a focus of supporting executive function development through
the social emotional domain.
