 Early Years Conference Supports Educators

About 300 preschool and kindergarten educators learned more about brain development, helping families manage stress, appropriate technology, and state standards recently at the Early Years Conference.

The San Diego County Office of Education’s (SDCOE) Early Education unit started the conference 13 years go to bring the most current research to educators from throughout the county.

This year’s event was presented by SDCOE, San Diego County State Preschool Directors Network, First 5 San Diego Quality Preschool Initiative, and California Preschool Instructional Network.

“It’s a wonderful day where administrators and teachers can come together to reflect on their practice and be inspired by new research," said Laura McLean, a coordinator with SDCOE’s Early Education unit. "There are opportunities for collaboration across agencies, which is very powerful."

This year’s conference, For the Love of Learning, engaged participants in a focus of supporting executive function development through the social emotional domain.

The conference was held Jan. 22 at Marina Village Conference Center.
