The San Diego County School Boards Association's and the Region 18 Association of California School Administrators' “Honoring Our Own” planning committee is seeking performers of all ages, representing districts of all sizes, to perform at the 2016 Honoring Our Own Awards Dinner.
The event, where administrators, staff members, parent volunteers, board members, and community partners are honored, will be held March 18 at the Sheraton Harbor Island. Last year, more than 400 people attended this event.
Event planners are looking for four school groups:
- A high-energy musical group to escort attendees from the reception hall into the ballroom. The group will perform for no more than 10 minutes and must be ready to perform at precisely 6:30 p.m. Previous group performers have included Mariachi, drum line, and bagpipes. The group also would be asked to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" once all guests are in the event ballroom.
- JROTC/Color guard for Presentation of Colors at 6:40 p.m.
- A group to provide dinner music for 30 minutes, from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. Previous dinner music performers included jazz ensembles and quartets.
- Feature Entertainment. An enthusiastic, show-stopping, 10-minute performance from a show choir, dance team, musical theater group, or other exciting act representing a school. Showtime is 7:45 p.m.
To apply, please submit an e-mail with the group description and contact information, along with an audio or video link of the proposed performance or a similar presentation to KDexter@lgsd.k12.ca.us
. Deadline is Jan. 8.
