The San Diego County Board of Education unanimously passed a resolution at its September 2017 meeting proclaiming Sept. 17 to 23, 2017 Constitution Week. The resolution reads:
WHEREAS Sept. 17, 2017, marks the 230th anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and
WHEREAS it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable anniversary; and to the patriotic celebrations which will commemorate the occasion; and
WHEREAS Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States of America, designating Sept. 17 through 23, 2017, as Constitution Week: Therefore be it
PROCLAIMED, that the San Diego County Board of Education hereby recognizes the week of Sept. 17 through 23, 2017, as CONSTITUTION WEEK
AND asks our citizens to reaffirm the ideals the Framers of the Constitution had in 1787, by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties, remembering that lost rights may never be regained.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, this Proclamation is presented to the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Children of the American Revolution of San Diego County this 13th day of September, 2017.
