Inquisitive students, faculty and staff filled the Chula Vista Middle School
library to get a first glance at longtime Channel 4 reporter Jane Mitchell’s
inspirational book, “One on One – My Journey with Hall of Famers, Fan Favorites
and Rising Stars.” The Sweetwater Union High School District is the first in the
county to participate in the “Book Buddy” event and receive the books. Mitchell
and Eastlake High alumni and former Padre, Edgar Gonzalez addressed the group
during a presentation and book signing.
“I am here today because I
believe in giving back and motivating young people to set goals and pursue their
dreams,” said Mitchell. “Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to interview
many star athletes who once sat in the seats you are sitting in today. I want to
encourage you all that sky’s the limit.”
For 15-years, Mitchell explored
the lives of professional athletes and rising sports stars on the television
program “One on One with Jane Mitchell.” After countless interviews, including
Sweetwater Alums, Adrian and Edgar Gonzalez, Mitchell developed a need to tell
