A change in the way school board members in the San Marcos Unified School District are elected has been submitted for approval by the San Diego County Board of Education. This change would affect the way residents of the district are represented on the school district’s governing board for years to come. Under the new election system, the district would be divided into geographic areas, and one board member living in each area would be elected by the voters who live in that area.
The County Board of Education is seeking input from the community on the proposed change in the district’s election system and the proposed boundaries of trustee areas.
To learn about these changes and to express your opinion, members of the public are invited to attend a public hearing on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. in the San Marcos Unified School District Board Room at the district office (255 Pico Ave., Suite 250, San Marcos, CA 92069).
Your input is welcome and strongly encouraged.
