The Communications team at the San Diego County Office of Education works regularly with school and media personnel to help get the word out about what’s happening in schools throughout the county.
The team also helps educators with strategies for working with reporters and has contacts with local print, television and radio news departments. We work frequently with reporters to provide background and contact information.
Internally, we produce a variety of publications and documents to keep the more than 1,000 people working for the County Office of Education informed.
Another important aspect of what we do is to facilitate partnerships between schools and businesses. These include internships for students and teachers, principal-for-a-day activities, Adopt-A-School partnerships, sponsorships of school programs, student and staff recognition programs, scholarships and academic incentive programs.
Our recognition programs include the annual Salute to Teachers gala, where the county’s teachers of the year are announced, as well as efforts that shine a spotlight on deserving educators and students throughout the county. Visit our Celebrate School Stars page to learn more about our teacher and student recognition programs.
