Welcome to Davila Day School

Welcome to Davila Day School

Davila Day School’s mission is to provide Deaf and hard-of-hearing students with a comprehensive, fully accessible, and language-rich learning environment that offers equal access to the general education curriculum and standards. With this environment, our students have opportunities to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

As a special education school located in Chula Vista, we are operated by the South County Special Education Local Plan Area in affiliation with the San Diego County Office of Education. We serve preschool through eighth-grade students from schools in throughout San Diego County.

Davila Day School has seven classrooms including two preschool classes, two lower elementary classes, and two upper elementary classes. Additionally, the school has an on-site audiologist and speech therapists who specialize in habilitation of students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

Each of our students has been identified as requiring an Individualized Education Program through a collaborative effort on the part of parents, local district representatives and SDCOE staff. Our staff members believe that our students have the right to maximize their educational, social, and communicative potential through participating in rigorous educational experiences.

This means our classes are designed to meet the communication needs of the students, including American Sign Language (ASL), Auditory/Oral (A/0), Total Communication (Signing with Voice), and Bilingual (ASL and English). These experiences, coupled with access to English and/or American Sign Language, enable our students to develop their ability to think independently, critically, creatively, and become productive members of society.
