JCCS, Combat Arts Unveil New Mural at Youth Transition Campus

JCCS, Combat Arts Unveil New Mural at Youth Transition Campus

Students at the Youth Transition Campus recently completed a mural at the campus, in partnership with Combat Arts.

Students were selected through a collaborative process with probation and JCCS, who identified students they believed would benefit most from the experience. Each mural took approximately 10–12, two-hour sessions to complete.

This is the third mural completed by students this year at YTC.

Local Chicano artist German Corrales, known as “The Butterfly Man,” created one mural with the Achieve girls, while the other was created with Combat Arts and the Integrity girls.

The project was funded by a grant written by Combat Arts in partnership with the Timken Museum of Art, with the two most recent murals, specifically supported by the Timken Museum.

Two additional murals are planned for YTC in the 2026–27 school year as part of SDCOE’s partnership with Combat Arts.

Two painted murals side by side, one with a hawk, snake and bunny, the other with flowers and a bee
