Student Board Member 2025-26 Application Now Open
The San Diego County Board of Education is accepting online applications for student board members now through Feb. 1 on the SDCOE student board member webpage. San Diego County 10th and 11th grade public high school students are invited to submit an application to represent the youth voice across our region as a member of the San Diego County Board of Education for the 2025-26 school year.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for students, who provide an important role representing and bringing the perspective of the students we serve,” said Matt Hayes, who heads the student board member effort. “It is also another chance for them to showcase their leadership skills when applying for college or future jobs.”
In support of the San Diego County Board of Education’s goal of providing equitable opportunities for all students, the board is seeking applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Students with both traditional and non-traditional leadership experiences are encouraged to apply.
The Board of Education will select five students, one from each board region, who will each serve two months on the governing body. The Board of Education regular meeting is on the second Wednesday of every month and there are occasional special meetings as needed. Visit the Student Board Member webpage for details and to apply.
Applications can be submitted online or by mail by Feb. 1. If you have any questions or need support, please email Matt Hayes or call 858-295-8857.
