CalPac’s Junior Leadership Team Named 2025 ASCA Student Council School of Excellence
California Pacific Charter Schools’ Junior Leadership Team has been recognized as a 2025 ASCA Student Council School of Excellence by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). This prestigious national recognition honors exemplary student councils demonstrating a strong commitment to community service, student leadership, citizenship, and school spirit.
CalPac’s Junior Leadership Team, which includes students in grades 3-5, earned this recognition through their dedication to meaningful projects that uplift their peers and communities.
One of their signature initiatives, the Kindness Challenge, encouraged students across California to donate items to local organizations. As an online school, student leaders compiled a list of donation sites — ranging from Goodwill centers to food banks and animal shelters — and created virtual posters to share with classmates. Students then submitted photos of their donations, which were featured in schoolwide highlights to celebrate their generosity.
Another impactful project, Monthly Character Traits, empowered students to grow into stronger leaders by focusing on traits such as organization, respect, goal setting, and community involvement. The Junior Leadership Team selected each month’s trait, created engaging content for teachers to share, and helped guide schoolwide conversations around personal development and citizenship.
“Watching these young leaders take ownership of their projects and inspire their peers has been one of the most rewarding experiences of the year,” said Rebecca Ockey, Junior Leadership Team advisor. “They’ve shown that leadership, kindness, and community can thrive — no matter the setting.”
This national recognition highlights CalPac’s mission to empower students to relentlessly pursue their goals while building character, confidence, and community.
