Two talented 12th grade students from Del Lago Academy recently represented their school and Escondido Union High School District in the Live Art Competition, which is part of the Grand Avenue Fall Festival on Oct. 19, 2025. Han Hua and Stephen Lucido competed against eight professional painters, showcasing their creativity, technique, and composure in a live setting where each artist created a piece in front of an audience. The event’s artwork was judged by members of the public.

Stephen Lucido earned first place, a remarkable achievement that highlights both artistic talent and creativity. EUHSD commends both students for their hard work and artistry in representing their school among seasoned professionals.

“We are incredibly proud of our students for stepping into a professional competition and thriving,” said Del Lago Academy’s Principles of Design Teacher Soudabeh “Sudi” Memarzadeh. The Live Art Competition offered a unique opportunity for students to engage with the local art community, gain valuable experience, and inspire peers to pursue their passions beyond the classroom.
