Kimberly Garcia Plays Important Role as Program Data Technician
The SDCOE Special Education department's standing with the California Department of Education is largely dependent on Kimberly Garcia's ability to collaborate with the special education coordinator to provide accurate data to the state, said Cara Schukoske, SDCOE’s executive director for special education.
As a program data technician, Garcia closely monitors the student data at all Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS) sites to ensure accuracy and compliance. She also works with all 42 school districts in the county to support data access necessary to the successful transition of students entering or exiting JCCS programs.
“Kimberly is highly esteemed by her administrators and colleagues,” said Schukoske who nominated Garcia for the 2023 SDCOE Classified School Employee of the Year recognition.
Garcia has been with SDCOE for about 15 years and in her current position for the last seven. She serves as an officer for the local chapter of the California School Employees Association (CSEA). In 2019, she was voted the CSEA Unsung Hero for her work with the association.
She is also very active with SDCOE engagement activities, supporting Wellness Week for her department and often working to bring teams together to build a stronger sense of community.
