Jan. 24 School Closures

The safety of students and school staff is of the utmost importance to San Diego County school districts.
Due to ongoing safety concerns related to the Border 2 Fire, Arroyo Vista, Camarena, Eastlake, Liberty, Marshall, Olympic View, Salt Creek, and Wolf Canyon elementary schools in the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) will be closed Jan. 24. All other CVESD schools remain open but on rainy day schedule due to poor air quality.
The following schools will also be closed due to the Border 2 Fire:
- Eastlake High, Eastlake Middle, Olympian High, and East Hills Academy (Sweetwater Union High School District)
- High Tech High Chula Vista
- Arroyo Vista Charter School
Due to power outages, schools in the following districts will be closed Jan. 24:
- Borrego Springs Unified School District
- Dehesa School District
- Mountain Empire Unified School District
- Warner Unified School District

Wheelhouse Credit Union is encouraging San Diego college-bound high school seniors to apply for its 2025 scholarship programs. Open to any local students, these programs will provide $10,000 in scholarships.
Dr. Rebecca Penh, an executive leadership coach at the San Diego County Office of Education, was named this year’s County Office Educator of the Year by the California Association of Asian and Pasifika Leaders in Education.
