The safety of students and school staff is of the utmost importance to San Diego County school districts.
Due to high winds and power outages, schools in the following districts will be closed Jan. 8:
- Julian Union Elementary School District
- Julian Union High School District
- Mountain Empire Unified School District
- Ramona Unified School District
- Spencer Valley School District
- Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District
- Warner Unified School District
Sullivan Middle School and Bonsall High School in Bonsall Unified School District and Barona Indian Charter School are also closed Jan. 8, 2025.

With upcoming elections in June and November, teens have the opportunity to participate in democratic processes.

Students from Canyon Crest Academy in the San Dieguito Union High School District have been named California State Champions in the 2026 Presidential AI Challenge.
