LCAP Community Forums Start Jan. 14
The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) is hosting a series of community forums to get input from parents, students, and other educational partners that will help guide the development of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for its Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS) and Friendship School.
These forums in January and February will help SDCOE develop its academic goals for student achievement and the spending plan to help achieve these goals for all students.
Parents, students, staff members, and community partners are all encouraged to attend and provide input. The schedule is available on the SDCOE LCAP webpage at www.sdcoe.net/lcap.
Each JCCS region will host its own forum, so attendees are advised to attend the forum scheduled for the region in which they live. If your child attends San Diego SOAR Academy (at the Youth Transition Campus or East Mesa), please plan to attend the meeting in the region in which you live. San Pasqual Academy's forum on Jan. 24 will be available in-person and virtually. A second virtual session will be offered Feb. 11 for any individuals who are unable to attend their school's in-person forum. If your child attends Friendship School, please contact the school to provide input.
The forums provide parents, guardians, and caregivers the opportunity to learn more about the academic and extracurricular plans at their student’s school. Staff will review last year’s academic goals and data, highlight successes, and share areas identified for growth.
Following a brief presentation, attendees will participate in a guided yet collaborative discussion where they can provide input to help develop the school’s future academic goals and identify potential challenges for students to academic success.
For more information and a list of dates and times, please visit the SDCOE LCAP webpage.
