Low-Cost Computers Available March 4 in San Diego

Low-Cost Computers Available March 4 in San Diego

Families in San Diego can get used laptop and desktop computers loaded with educational software for as little as $100 at a drive-thru event organized by the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) and Computers 2 Kids.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon March 4 at Kearny High School, 1954 Komet Way in San Diego. Debit and credit cards will be accepted along with cash.

Those who wish to get one of the computers are asked to register by Feb. 28 to ensure a computer will be available. Walk-ups will also be accommodated if possible.

"This is a great partnership that helps SDCOE in its ongoing work to make sure every student has the opportunity and access to thrive," said Dr. Paul Gothold, San Diego County superintendent of schools.

Each refurbished computer includes Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2019 as well as antivirus and education-related software. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for internet access.

Thousands of families have received computers through a partnership between SDCOE and Computers 2 Kids, which has been distributing computers to low-income families since 2004 to help reduce the digital divide between those who have access to technology and those who don’t.

For more information, contact Computers 2 Kids at 858-200-9788.
