Nominate an Equity and Diversity Champion for a Lighthouse Award
Do you know someone who shines as a beacon in the educational community by channeling and leading others in diversity, equity, and inclusion? Nominate them for a San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) Lighthouse Award, which spotlights people in our schools, districts, and communities who are champions for educational equity. Nominations are now open for the 2025 Lighthouse Awards presented at the Equity Conference in May.
SDCOE created the Lighthouse Awards to showcase the amazing people doing the work to lead others in diversity, equity, and inclusion. These honorees go above and beyond to be a beacon of hope and light for students and adults in a system that wasn’t built to meet the needs of each individual.
Nominations in all the categories are being accepted now through April 1 on the 2025 Equity Conference website.
The honorees will be recognized during the Equity Conference on May 28-30. The conference features local experts, nationally recognized speakers, and educators implementing systemic change to support all students.
Honor someone’s work and mission by nominating them for one of the following award categories:
- Excellence in School Site Leadership award goes to a school administrator who fosters and leads equitable outcomes for all learners and has been a beacon of light for an entire community.
- Excellence in Teaching and Learning award is for a classroom teacher who embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion and has helped achieve positive social and academic outcomes for all students.
- Excellence in Student Support award goes to a school counselor, social worker, nurse, school psychologist, paraprofessional, or others who actively supports all students, in pursuit of academic and/or social emotional excellence.
