SDCOE Highlights Belonging in San Diego Pride Parade

SDCOE Highlights Belonging in San Diego Pride Parade

Under a sunny, blue sky Saturday morning, a group representing the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) took to the streets of Hillcrest to participate in the annual San Diego Pride Parade.

The contingent included dozens of SDCOE staff and their friends and family; County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gloria E. Ciriza; County Board of Education President Dr. Gregg Robinson and Board Members Guadalupe González and Dr. Erin Evans; and multiple current and past County Teachers of the Year.

Dressed in matching blue SDCOE T-shirts with "You Belong Here" on the front, the group walked the route while waving to the crowd and passing out Pride flags and stickers. Rounds of applause and cheers of encouragement met the group every step of the way.

SDCOE's participation with the San Diego Pride Parade is an important opportunity to increase awareness and visibility around the LGBTQIA+ community and affirm SDCOE's commitment to promoting safe and welcoming school spaces for all students, families, and educators.

Before long, the group reached the finish line, feeling proud of their efforts in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and SDCOE’s commitment to fostering belonging by making sure everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
