Student Spotlight: Brandon
The Juvenile Court and Community Schools student representative on the San Diego County Board of Education for September was Brandon, a sophomore at South County Community School.
Brandon was selected by the South County Community School staff for his dedication to his schoolwork and participation in multiple internships and programs.
“When I think about our schoolwide learner expectations, particularly around personal development and student agency, Brandon epitomizes these qualities,” said Principal Floyd North.
Brandon shared that he recently participated in an arts internship, where he created puppets for Child’s Play, a children’s play, and produced beats for a music video during his internship with David’s Harp Foundation. He’s also participating in the Future Colors program where he and other students are taking photos to promote a new European brand that is coming the San Diego. In addition, he successfully completed his first college course in Cultural Foods at City College, all while maintaining his academics and being a supportive friend to his peers.
“I feel this gives you a glimpse into the remarkable young man that Brandon is,” North said.
Brandon thanked the staff and "Coach Floyd," and thanked his teachers, Ms. Denise and Ms. Crystal for everything they’ve done for them.
“They keep me on track and out of trouble,” he said with a smile.
