Student Spotlight: Giselle
The Juvenile Court and Community Schools student representative on the San Diego County Board of Education for July was Giselle, a sophomore at 37ECB Community School.
Giselle was selected by school staff for her academic success, entrepreneurial spirit, and leadership qualities.
Principal Floyd North shared that she was one of the first students to complete the career technical education culinary arts barista program as part of the school’s partnership with Kitchens for Good and recently had the opportunity to showcase her talents at the SDCOE Management Employee event as a lead barista.
“Her success led to a role as a student lead and CTE ambassador, culminating in a paid internship,” he added.
To further hone her entrepreneurial skills, Giselle is enrolled in the marketing sales and services program. She is actively involved in designing dog apparel and working with the San Diego Fire Department on special projects involving fire dogs.
“Teachers praise Giselle for her leadership in Bring Change to Mind, a wellness club on campus, and they commend her perfect attendance and positive attitude, consideration of her peers, and active engagement in school,” North said. “Giselle’s journey exemplifies dedication, leadership, and service.”
Giselle aspires to develop the knowledge and skills to one day take over the family business and become a financial analyst and take care of animals.
Each month, the San Diego County Board of Education recognizes a student from Juvenile Court and Community Schools at its regular meeting.
