Student Spotlight: Kiana
The Juvenile Court and Community Schools student representative on the San Diego County Board of Education for May was Kiana, a senior at San Pasqual Academy.
The San Pasqual Academy staff selected Kiana because she is an exceptional student who shows focus and determination while excelling in both academics and extracurricular activities.
Principal David Sosa said Kiana consistently strives to complete her credits with outstanding energy and a strong desire to achieve excellent grades. Her work at the school’s Dragons Lounge stands out where she shows great responsibility and provides quality service, further highlighting her leadership and teamwork skills.
“What truly distinguishes her is her persistence and positive attitude,” Sosa said. “She approaches every challenge with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, making her an invaluable member of our school community.”
Reflective of that is how Kiana inspires other students by encouraging them to start planning for their future early by getting familiar with all their options. This advice, Sosa said, reflects Kiana’s maturity and forward-thinking mindset throughout her journey.
Kiana said she is grateful to Janelle Charles, an employment services coordinator with Access, Inc., who has been a role model to her and has helped prepare her for the workforce.
Kiana is graduating in June and plans to go to college and pursue a degree in nursing.
Each month, the San Diego County Board of Education recognizes a student from Juvenile Court and Community Schools at its regular meeting.
