Student Spotlight: Nariyah

Student Spotlight: Nariyah

The Juvenile Court and Community Schools student representative on the San Diego County Board of Education in April was Nariyah, a senior at San Pasqual Academy.

Nariyah was selected for her perseverance and contributions to the school community.

Principal Cindy Stallo shared that Nariyah is a core member of the San Pasqual community who demonstrates a commitment to both personal development and academic excellence.

“In her two years at San Pasqual Academy, she has worked incredibly hard to reach her academic goals and prepare to graduate on time,” Stallo shared. “She recently completed a financial literacy program and is currently employed on campus through the Access Inc program,” she said.

After graduation, Nariyah plans to go to attend San Diego City College and pursue cosmetic dentistry.

The teachers and staff at San Pasqual Academy described Nariyah as motivated, respectful and kind. They say that she is flexible, adjusting to life as needed, and that she's very committed to her family. Nariyah has a strong sense of determination that has helped her work through many obstacles.

When asked what advice she would give to fellow JCCS students, she encouraged them to stay focused on their future.

“Your future is everything. You have to take control of your life and make it work. No one is going to do it for you,” she said.

During the meeting, Nariyah expressed her gratitude to the San Pasqual Academy staff their support in achieving her academic goals.

“I have been working and studying very hard. I caught up on everything, so I appreciate the opportunity,” she said. “They let me work at my own pace and I was able to do it all quickly. Thank you so much.”

As part of its efforts to highlight transformational learning experiences for students, the San Diego County Board of Education recognizes a student from Juvenile Court and Community Schools at its regular monthly meeting.
