Student Spotlight: Adrian
The JCCS student representatives on the San Diego County Board of Education for June was Adrian, a junior at Monarch School.
Adrian was recognized by the Monarch School staff for his kindness and generosity he shows to everyone around him.
“He makes people feel valued,” said teacher Jeffra Becknell. “And he’s got great dance moves!”
Adrian is currently senior editor for the Royal News, the school’s newspaper, and fittingly, his advice to other students is to “use your voice.” He has plans to attend college with a great acting or drama program so he can work in theatre or film, and maybe one day work for the Arts department at Monarch.
He is grateful to the school staff for helping him excel in the areas of art, dance, and theatre, and for pushing him to achieve more than he thought he could.
Each month, the San Diego County Board of Education recognizes a student from JCCS at its regular meeting.
"In addition to giving the board a chance to honor a student, participation in the meeting also gives students valuable experience in leadership," said Dr. Paul Gothold, San Diego County superintendent of schools.
