Wheelhouse Credit Union Invites Local High School Seniors To Apply for 2026 College Scholarships

Wheelhouse Credit Union Invites Local High School Seniors To Apply for 2026 College Scholarships

Five Badge of Honor Scholarships Available for Children of First Responders

Five Sustainability Scholarships Support Student Environmental Leaders

Wheelhouse Credit Union (Wheelhouse) is now accepting applications for its 2026 college scholarship programs, encouraging San Diego County high school seniors to apply as they pursue higher education. Open to local students, the programs will award a total of $10,000 in scholarships this year.

  • The Wheelhouse Badge of Honor Scholarships, now in their sixth year, recognize and support families of first responders who serve in the San Diego community. Five $1,000 scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors with a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian who is actively serving in law enforcement, fire protection, healthcare or emergency medical services within San Diego County.
  • The Wheelhouse Sustainability Scholarships support college-bound students who demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship and community impact. Reflecting the credit union’s long-standing sustainability mission, five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who are leading or participating in eco-friendly initiatives that made a difference locally.

“At Wheelhouse Credit Union, our mission is to positively impact the lives of our Members, community and planet,” said Wheelhouse President/CEO Lisa Paul-Hill. “These scholarships reflect our commitment to education, public service, and sustainability, as well as our deep roots in San Diego. We’re proud to invest in local students who are giving back to their communities and preparing to shape the future.”

Students can find more information and submit applications online at WheelhouseCU.com/scholarships. Credit union membership is not required, and applications will be accepted through April 30, 2026. Both programs recognize students who demonstrate leadership, a commitment to public service and a desire to make an impact on their communities, and who would benefit from scholarship support as they pursue their education.

Established in 2005, Wheelhouse’s annual College Scholarship Program supports San Diego County students in areas aligned with the Credit Union’s mission, including environmental sustainability and support for first responders. Since its inception, the program has awarded $137,000 in scholarships to local students.
