Superintendent's Message

Superintendent’s Message - August 2026
Dr. Gloria Ciriza outdoor profile photo

I’m filled with gratitude as I write this message for our August Inspire. A year ago in July, we launched our Strategic Plan. Through the creation process, a committee of SDCOE colleagues captured our Board’s goals and foundations together with data and feedback provided by all of our employees. In it, we commit to our North Star goal and identify how we will pour all our efforts into ensuring every child and family in the county has the opportunity to thrive.

And now, one year in, we have new internal survey data to help us see how far we have come, and how we keep moving forward, together. I have seen firsthand the mountains we can move when we work as one SDCOE, aligned in purpose and mission, and I can’t wait to see all we can accomplish in Year Two.

In this edition of Inspire, we see how our teams are creating truly transformational, life-changing experiences for our young people and what’s next in year two of our aligned work to ensure every child thrives in their school and their community. I'm looking forward to seeing all we’re able to accomplish this new school year as we move forward united under our Strategic Plan to achieve our North Star goal.
