The Business Advisory Services Unit provides technical assistance and oversight for school districts on fiscal issues. The unit assists districts with a variety of topics, including property taxes, special education funding, categorical funding, and the federal Every Student Succeeds Act.
The unit is responsible for AB 1200 fiscal oversight, including reviewing each district's adopted budget, interim budget reports, unaudited actual report, audit resolution process, and proposed collective bargaining agreements.
The unit coordinates governing board member elections for school and community college districts and school district organization for the County Board of Education, acting as the County Committee on School District Organization.
The unit also utilizes Management Assistance Teams to provide specialized studies of business services operations for K-12 school districts within San Diego County.
