The SDCOE Career Pathways Conference on Oct. 10 is the main annual event for educators, counselors, principals, and school administrators looking to connect students to high-wage, high-priority jobs so they can live and thrive in California. 

Career readiness can be integrated across campuses and curriculum, beginning as early as TK and kindergarten. This conference features learning and growth in high-quality pathway development, future-ready counseling practices, apprenticeships, work-based learning, industry partnerships, and more.

2024 Keynote

Headshot: Brian Melekian

Brian Melekian: Careers Behind the Gold

Brian Melekian is in his fourth year as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (CVEATC). 

Prior to joining CVEATC, Melekian spent his entire career in professional sports, particularly soccer. Brian began as the original Director of Operations for the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major Soccer in 1996 and transitioned into Stadium Management when the Home Depot Center opened in 2003. Brian has been part of the launch of three professional sports leagues - the United Football League, the North American Soccer League and most recently the National Independent Soccer Association. 

Brian is a proud graduate of the University of Southern California and lives in San Diego with his wife Tracy and their dog Fletcher. 

What's New in 2024

This year the Career Pathways Conference is moving venues as we expand to meet demand! Just like your pathways, we must go bigger and better as we look at how career pathway programs can lift students up as they prepare for the high wage jobs they need to live and thrive in California. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Double Tree Hotel in October where our conference theme will be 24K Pathways.

We're opening up registration to attendees across the state with discounts for San Diego County attendees.

Registration for attendees outside of San Diego County

  • Regular rate: $325
