UCSD Young Scholars Summer Camps for 6 - 12 Grade

Looking for meaningful summer learning?

These UCSD programs are designed for rising 6th–12th graders ready to explore computer science in creative ways. This isn’t just a summer camp—it’s a launchpad. Students gain skills in computer science, AI, and design thinking while working with UCSD experts. Two week long options to choose from, June 22 - 26 or July 13 - 17.

The offerings are:

1. Be an Inventor: Engineering Your Ideas to Life. 9 - 12 grade. This camp will teach middle school Young Scholars how they can become a trailblazer in technology through hands-on experiences in electrical engineering and computer science. In this multi-day STEM camp, Young Scholars will create their own electronic inventions with Arduino microcontrollers by designing and coding with circuits.
2. Invent It Yourself: Code, Craft, & Create! 6 - 9 grade. Using beginner-friendly coding along with crafting and maker-style materials, students will experiment, problem-solve, and bring their ideas to life. From interactive games and digital designs to creative prototypes, students will learn how to invent with confidence-one project at a time.
3. Experience & Game Development in Virtual Reality. 6 - 9 gradeHave you ever wanted to build a 3D experience, and actually walk through it? With modern Virtual Reality technologies, now you can. As you learn development skills by designing 360° immersive tours, VR museums and gamified escape rooms, you will be challenged to finally design a VR game or experience of your own creation. Develop and design with VR coding just like a professional game developer!
