Foundation-Sponsored Costa Rica Wildlife Research Expeditions
The Global Sustainability Project (GSP) is now offering a fully funded opportunity for A.P. Environmental Studies or Biology teachers and 10 junior year students to participate in an Ecology Project International expedition to the Pacuare Reserve on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica for nine days of fieldwork with Ecology Project International scientists. The foundation is currently seeking two teachers in San Diego County High Schools to lead the project during the 2025-26 school year.
The goal of this project is to provide students who have evidenced the potential to be future leaders the opportunity to:
- Increase their understanding of another culture very different than their own
- Contribute their skills in sustaining their environment, locally and internationally
The Picerne Family Foundation designed and funds this program. It is the first of its kind for high school students in the United States and is intended to serve as a model for other schools and funders.
