San Diego Green Schoolyards Leadership Institute
Most schoolyards are dominated by hot asphalt, leaving children vulnerable to extreme heat and disconnected from nature. Without a shift in how school districts approach their school grounds, students continue to miss out on the vital benefits of nature-filled outdoor spaces.
The Schoolyard Forest Regional Leadership Institute empowers school districts to move beyond piecemeal greening projects and tackle the systemic barriers that too often hamper greening efforts.
This innovative program helps teams build the systems, policies, and plans necessary to scale living schoolyard forests across their entire district—equitably and sustainably.
The San Diego program will run from Sept. 2026 through June 2028 at rotating locations across the region. Complete the interest form.
