The Democracy Project

The Democracy Project

SDCOE, in partnership with Teach Democracy, is seeking 10 8th, 11th, and 12th grade teachers to be a part of the Democracy Project. Join us for a free half-day workshop on Dec.11 on the USS Midway Museum. Participants will:

  • Learn about the Democracy Project, which includes free, online lessons designed to help students develop the skills and knowledge necessary for civic engagement
  • Engage in topics such as media literacy, issue-based discussions, and the U.S. Constitution
  • Participate in a pilot of the Democracy Project lessons

Teachers will receive a $50 stipend to cover the cost of parking and for their participation in the workshop. They will also receive a stipend for lesson implementation ($175) with an opportunity for an additional $300 stipend for participating in a formal evaluation with the Civic Engagement Research Group. (Stipends are paid by Teach Democracy).

The session will be on Dec. 11 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the USS Midway Museum. Learn more and register here.
