Collecting, analyzing, and understanding data can help schools and districts better understand their makeup, points of success, and areas for growth. The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) understands how valuable, but complicated this information can be. 

Our Data and Impact Center of Excellence (DICE) provides a comprehensive suite of data services designed to support educational partners throughout San Diego County. One of the core offerings is the production of customized data dashboards, enabling users to interact with and visualize data in dynamic, user-friendly formats tailored to their specific needs. These customized dashboards currently address topics such as multilingual learners, chronic absenteeism, 9th grade on-track, and post-secondary college-going Information.

Additionally, SDCOE offers public dashboards and reports using publicly-accessible data. These reports are crafted to allow educators, administrators, and other educational partners to view and analyze performance metrics across schools and districts within the county. The reports are published periodically throughout the year, aligned with the release schedule of statewide data, ensuring that the insights provided are current and relevant.

To uphold data security and privacy, SDCOE establishes robust data sharing agreements with local education agencies (LEA) in the county. These agreements ensure that the sensitive information used in the reports is handled responsibly and securely. This collaboration allows us to create a variety of detailed and customized reports, which are shared directly with the LEAs. These tailored reports provide in-depth insights that are essential for informed decision-making and strategic planning at the local level.

Beyond reporting, SDCOE offers data literacy and data use support to empower educators and administrators to effectively interpret and utilize data in their decision-making processes. This service includes training sessions, workshops, and ongoing support to build capacity in data analysis and application.

This involves meticulous processes to identify and correct errors, inconsistencies, and anomalies in the data, guaranteeing that the reports and analyses produced are based on high-quality, trustworthy data.
