Educational Technology

Educators can earn 1.0 to 3.0 graduate-level extension credits through the University of San Diego by participating in live Ed Tech professional learning sessions and completing all required documentation.

Note: Acceptance of professional learning credits is at the discretion of the district. Educators are responsible for confirming their district will accept the professional learning credits. 

Credit Overview

• 1.0 credit = Attend 13 virtual live sessions and submit 13 reflections
• 2.0 credits = Attend 25 virtual live sessions and submit 25 reflections
• 3.0 credits = Attend 38 virtual live sessions and submit 38 reflections

*Professional credit is only awarded for live participation. You will be required to sign in during the session; watching the recordings on YouTube will not qualify for credit.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Register for the SDCOE Ed Tech Professional Learning Sessions

• View the professional learning calendar for the SDCOE Professional Learning. 
• Register for the sessions you want to attend. 
• Zoom link will be sent via email on the day of the professional learning session.

2. Attend Live Ed Tech Sessions

• You must attend the required number of live sessions (recordings do not count).
• Sign in - use the linked attendance form to sign in during the live session. Sign-ins are timestamped and only those submitted during the live session will be accepted.

3. Complete a Reflection for Each Session

• After each session, submit a 500-word reflection within 48 hours of the training.
• Your reflection must follow this rubric’s guidelines.
• Submit your reflection through this online form.

4. Track Your Progress

• Keep a personal record of your attended sessions and submitted reflections.
• Make sure your total number of verified sessions and reflections matches your registered credit level.

5. Register for the Professional Learning Credit through the University of San Diego.

• Sign up for course credit by visiting USD’s course webpage.
• USD fees are the responsibility of the educator. 

6. Receive Your Credit

• Upon verification of attendance and reflections, USD will process your credit.

You may request an official transcript through the USD Registrar’s Office once processing is complete.

Esports is a growing academic area. SDCOE takes a comprehensive approach to assist districts and schools as they explore the possibilities of adding an esports competitive team or an after school gaming club. Below are the opportunities that SDCOE offers our districts:

Esports Coaching Clinic: We offer both a cohort model and a self paced Alludo course that will provide the learner with the tools needed to start their school's esport club or competitive league.

Esports Coaches Network: Join educators throughout San Diego county who are providing students safe, fun, and competitive opportunities while introducing them to school and career pathways in the field of computer science and gaming, and even the potential for college scholarships. 

Tournaments: SDCOE partners with various organizations to offer tournaments throughout the year. 

Consulting: We will work with your school or district help navigate the new and exciting world of esports. 

SDCOE supports districts and schools in designing and creating new, innovative technology integration plans and workshops to take your district technology initiatives to the next level. Technology integration plans will help districts to make inform decisions, support strategic initiatives, foster innovation, attract qualified teachers, and expand and enhance services. Educational technology coaching empowers educators to inspire the best from teachers, staff, and students utilizing the latest proven practices in technology integration.
