Access and complete all application materials within the: Checklist Special Subjects Preliminary Credential

Step 2

Turn in all documentation to your hiring district. They will mail the packet to our Credentials Office for processing.

1. Adult Education Credential Information

Adult Education programs offer their communities both state-supported general education courses and community education fee-based classes.

Career Technical Education

1. Career Technical Education (CTE) Credential Information

Career Technical Education is one of the fastest-growing areas of education. These courses prepare students, from middle school to adult, for specific trades in 15 industry sectors. Teachers pursuing a CTE credential come directly from those industry areas.

Special Subjects

1. Special Subjects Credential Information

The Special Subjects Credential authorizes teaching in programs such as Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), Driver Education, and Aviation. These programs are not offered in all districts, and credential requirements and necessary experience are very specific.

Supervision And Coordination Credential (Non-Teaching)

The Designated Subjects Supervision and Coordination Credential authorizes the holder to supervise and coordinate subjects and classes in all types of designated subjects programs.

Possess a valid Designated Subjects Teaching Credential, other than for part-time service

▼

Obtain verification from the employing agency of completion of three years of full-time teaching experience in the subject named on the Designated Subjects Teaching Credential

▼

Satisfy the Basic Skills Requirement

*The Basic Skills Requirement can be met with a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or BSR option(s) in leaflet cl-667

Basic Skills Requirement (CL-667)

▼

Obtain verification by a Commission-approved program sponsor of completion of six semester units, or 90 clock hours, in a Commission-approved personalized program in supervision and coordination.

Recommendation by a Commission-approved program sponsor.
