SDCOE Multilingual Pathway (MLP) Services
SDCOE Multilingual Pathway (MLP) Services

In partnership with districts and schools, the Multilingual Education and Global Achievement (MEGA) Department at the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) proudly supports the design and implementation of multilingual programs and pathways that span from early learning through high school. Whether it's Structured English Immersion (SEI), Dual Language Immersion (DLI), or World Language (WL) Programs, we support systemic transformation that ensures each student experiences a coherent, well-articulated learning journey. Through this work, MEGA is dedicated to advancing equity, academic excellence, biliteracy, and global competence for all students across San Diego County.
Overview
MEGA offers a comprehensive and coordinated suite of services—including professional learning institutes and workshops, school visits, learning walks, coaching, and consultation—tailored to the system, site, and team levels. This cohesive approach provides districts with clear, actionable processes to design, implement, strengthen, and align multilingual programs at every stage of development.
MEGA’s Multilingual Pathway (MLP) Services are designed to meet the diverse needs of schools and districts at different stages of the design and implementation of multilingual programs and pathways. From designing and launching new programs to improving, expanding and refining existing ones, each tier provides targeted assistance grounded in research-based practices and seminal state and national guidance for multilingual education.

- Develop equity-centered, human and community-focused leadership practices that promote social justice and ensure all student groups have access to multilingualism and biliteracy.
- Strengthen instructional and programmatic coherence by aligning goals, curriculum, and practices with the California English Learner Roadmap and Global California 2030.
- Collaborate across roles and teams to build collective capacity for sustaining multilingual education that empowers students to become bilingual, biliterate, and socioculturally competent global citizens.
