Helping schools develop policies, procedures, and bylaws

The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) assists districts with policies and procedures, including compliance with the Brown Act and parliamentary procedures, governing board member elections, and legal requirements for filling governing board vacancies. This office also provides information and coordinates activities related to school district organization. In addition, the Legal Services department is responsible for the development and revision of the County Board of Education bylaws and policies and SDCOE administrative regulations.

Public Records Requests

The California Public Records Act (CPRA) was originally enacted in 1968 and requires that governmental records be made accessible to the public upon request, unless otherwise exempted by law. Pursuant to the CPRA, the public can inspect or receive a copy of any record unless the record is exempted from disclosure under the act.
