Early Completion Option Guidelines
The SDCOE Teacher Induction Program has set the following guidelines for its Early Completion Option (ECO):
Two site evaluations with the equivalent of satisfactory or better on all criteria; Both evaluations must have been within the last 5 years and at least one must be within last 2 years.
Three or more years of successful full time classroom teaching experience, as a teacher of record in a K-12 teaching assignment (excludes internships, student teaching, shared teaching, or substitute teaching) Verification of this employment is required from HR or Administrator on school letterhead with name, years of teaching and brief description of teaching position(s). Note: Current employer cannot provide verification of prior employment; ie candidates must supply Verification of Employment from each separate employer listed.
Recommendation from current principal verifying classroom management and creation and delivery of effective and equitable lessons as exceptional and therefore satisfactory to eliminate the year of work and reflection for improved practice.
Step 1: Submission of a complete application with all required attachments to email@example.com no later than Monday, October 5, 2020
Step 2: An approved completed application will result in an observation being conducted by SDCOE Program staff or District Lead; which will show demonstration of Integrating and Innovating developmental levels for California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) standard 1 and 2 (see Continuum of Teaching Practice) The observation will be completed by October 31st.
Candidate will be notified of ECO status within 10 days of the observation.
There are no exceptions to any of the requirements
ECO eligibility requirements will be reviewed during the orientation.
Candidate will meet with District Lead to determine whether ECO is a viable option.
Application requirements will be completed and submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org .
SDCOE Teacher Induction program leadership will determine acceptance into the ECO program within 10 days of observation.
Candidate will complete a Payment Agreement for ECO.
Once accepted into ECO, the candidate will continue to complete the Year 1 Induction assignments in SDCOE's LMS.
SDCOE Teacher Induction program leadership will assess candidate progress throughout the year. Candidates who do not meet due date requirements or submit graduate level work, will have their ECO status revoked and complete induction in the traditional two-year time frame.
ECO candidates will demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies required of the Professional Clear Credential.
ECO candidates will demonstrate all skills and abilities required of the program.
The timeline for completion of the ECO will be a minimum of one year as determined by the Teacher Candidate, District Lead, and SDCOE Teacher Induction program leadership.

The ECO application should only be completed by candidates already accepted into the SDCOE Teacher Induction Program.
*You can start gathering the evidence for #2 and #3. #1, #4, #5 and #6 are all completed within your teaching position so those need to wait until the school year starts. ECO is evaluated and approved or denied by the end of October. ECO is separate from registration/enrollment in the SDCOE Teacher Induction program.
