Environmental Literacy

​The San Diego County Office of Education Environmental Literacy Team offers a variety of events and professional learning opportunities to help educators learn about the CA Environmental Principles and Concepts (EP&Cs), connect the EP&Cs to all content areas, and use environmental literacy as a tool to bring culturally relevant instruction to classrooms. Services provided include support planning instruction with an environmental literacy lens, identifying local environmental phenomena to use in conjunction with adopted curriculum, and developing the capacity of educators related to environmental literacy.


Professional Learning Opportunities

Learning in Local Nature

This one day virtual professional learning will focus on environmental literacy in science and how to take your students outdoors. Identify local environmental phenomena and get tips on connecting with community partners. Learn from experts in the field and collaborate with other classroom educators from across Southern California.

Environmental Education Leaders Network

The Environmental Education Leaders Network is an ongoing opportunity for informal educators in San Diego County to come together to share best practices in the field and current environmental education efforts. Network meetings will be held in a variety of locations in the county.
