School districts throughout San Diego County will be participating in the San Diego County Teacher Job Fair with positions available for Secondary and Special Education K-12 teachers for the 2007-2008 school year. The Job Fair will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the University of San Diego.
Attendees will have an opportunity to interview and submit resumes and portfolios with the districts of their choice, as well as with business partners, colleges and universities. The San Diego County Office of Education's credentials office will offer information regarding any credentialing questions or masters programs. Teachers hired may be eligible to receive possible moving and storage discounts.
The Teacher Job Fair is co-hosted by the San Diego County Office of Education, the University of San Diego and the Teacher Recruitment & Support Center.
"School districts are currently experiencing a shortage in the areas of math, science, and special education, but teachers from all secondary areas are being recruited," said Chris Reising, Director of the Teacher Recruitment Center. "We expect a high turnout of prospective teachers to enter the rewarding career of teaching."
The "Troops to Teachers" program will also be available for separating or retiring military personnel interested in a second career in public education. The program has been successful in producing quality teachers in high demand areas, Reising said. The core services provided include counseling, financial and placement assistance.
