The San Diego County Board of Education has voted unanimously to elect
Sue Hartley as President and Mark Anderson as Vice President for 2011.
Hartley, who represents the North Coastal region of the county on the
five-member Board, said, “I look forward to working with the board to
tackle these critical budget issues we have on our hands. It is my duty
to assure that our students and districts receive the aide that they
need during these rough times in education.”
Hartley replaces 3rd District Representative Sharon Jones as President.
Jones, who served as Board President for the past two years, represents the East County.
Anderson, representing the North Inland region of the county (the
Board’s 4th District), said, “I look forward to being a part of
leadership with the County Board of Education and serving the students
of San Diego.”
The San Diego County Board of Education sets policy for the San Diego County Office of Education.
The office provides a wide range of services to 42 local school
districts, including business and budget advisory services, information
technology, and curriculum/instruction, and as well as providing direct
administration of the county’s Juvenile Court and Community Schools,
Special Education Local Plan Areas, and Regional Occupation Program.
The San Diego County Board of Education regular business meetings are
held on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. and are televised
live on ITV Channel 16.
