 SDCOE Employees Win Award for Radio Show

Two San Diego County Office of Education employees recently won top honors at the San Diego Press Club Awards for their radio show.

Gilbert Smith, master control technician for Integrated Technology Services, and Mike Bragg, a mobile learning lab technician for Migrant Education Services, received first and third place awards of excellence in the Radio Talk Show/Interview category at the Oct. 29 event.

The duo produces a weekly radio show called Galaxy Moonbeam Nightsite, which airs on Rez Radio, 91.3, in North County and is available through Apple’s iTunes Store. The show profiles American pop culture and is aimed at Baby Boomers. Since they started in 2009, Smith and Bragg have produced more than 125 shows.

The awards were for separate interviews with Ken Kramer, host of KPBS’ “About San Diego” TV series,.and “Shotgun” Tom Kelly, a famous top-40 radio host.
