About 800 high school students from across the region were able to interact with a renowned historian last week during a webinar broadcast from the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) South County Regional Education Center.
The SDCOE's History-Social Science Unit teamed up with the USS Midway Museum for the Spotlight on History: The Legacy of John F. Kennedy presentation by presidential historian Dr. Robert Dallek.
During his presentation, Dallek discussed key events during Kennedy's presidency as well as explored the question of why he continues to have such a strong hold on people's attention.
The participating students asked Dellek questions ranging from "If J.F.K. were alive today what would you ask him?" to "Do you think there was a conspiracy to assassinate him?"
"The webinar was a great way to reach students from every corner of the region," said Matthew Hayes, SDCOE history-social science coordinator. "This webinar provided teachers and students a model for using technology as a learning tool in a manner they might not have in the past."
