Cymer, CIF Honor Top-Achieving High School Teams for Fall Sports

Cymer and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) San Diego Section have announced the top-achieving fall athletic teams from each of five regions in the San Diego Section.

The CIF All Academic Teams honor the school teams in each sport and region with the highest, combined, unweighted grade point average. From each of those teams, Cymer is honoring the junior or senior with the highest, cumulative, weighted high school grade point average, and those students are known as Cymer Scholars.

More than 670 male and female athletes comprise the honored teams.  The five regions of the San Diego Section are north, south, metro, east and inland/Imperial.

“These are outstanding students,” said CIF San Diego Section Commissioner Jerry Schniepp. “Their achievement is a refection on their coaches, schools and families.  And we’re thrilled to partner with Cymer, a local company that has become an international leader in its field.  High school athletes that excel in the classroom are among the finest young people in this community, and we’re proud to join with Cymer to honor them.”

“We honor all fall season Cymer Scholar Athletes for their outstanding accomplishment. Each athlete has demonstrated a strong competitive spirit and the ability to perform at a high level scholastically and athletically.  These are outstanding qualities that will help them to continue to contribute to society in significant ways,” said Ed Brown, CEO of Cymer Light Source.
